The Flow of Life

Like an ocean, the perception of self-flaws clashes and evolves with age, experience and time.

No one feels confident all the time, capable all of the time, committed all of the time… so what do you do when the tides change?

My advice is to set up reminders of your best self during a high tide while you are feeling motivated and refreshed. Cut out pictures, journal or even record a positive reminder of who you want to be and what you want out of life. The bible says, “make the vision clear.” While the journey can be unpredictable, there is a substantial benefit to adding intention into the recipe of life.

Having a vision will remind your flesh that low moments are temporal but the work you do now has the power to reconstruct your future.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 King James Version (KJV)

“2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

Lesson from my Daughter

My daughter taught me to love myself. Birthing a beautiful chocolate princess with cotton coils and a dimpled smile opened my eyes to the beauty that is me. The way she studies how I hold my shoulders curve my lips and tame my hair brought awareness to how I carried myself.

 I had to think …

“Am I teaching my daughter to like herself or love herself?”

“Am I putting up with my looks or appreciation my looks?”

Before my daughter I had not considered the importance of presenting myself to the world. Not as a performance, but in an intentional way that says, “I am important, I am loved, and I deserve respect.”

While I compliment my daughter and show her love, I realized that the most effective way to teach her self-worth and confidence is to SHOW self-worth and confidence.

Monday Meditation

What experience plagues your thoughts?

We all are on a journey going toward purpose and passion but sometimes we are distracted by bills, responsibilities and urgent matters.

Mediation Monday is a time where you make a conscious effort to close the “to-dos” of the day and grab a handful of peace.

Take a moment and think about the one problem that runs laps around your thoughts. Is it a bill? Are you concerned with a child, maybe a relationship?  Take a moment and finish this sentence:

I am afraid that _____________________________________________ will happen if I cannot fix this issue.

__________________________________________ what I can do about it.

____________________________________________how long it would take to get better.

___________________________________________ who must I become if this doesn’t get better.

You have just laid out the complete scenario. Now take a moment and breathe. You no longer have a reason to replay the issue or concern because you have written out the fear and tangible solution.

Find a quiet place and take 5 long breaths.

When this issue comes back into your thoughts, tell yourself that you have already thought through the situation and dismiss the situation from your thoughts. Choose peace.

Meditation Monday

Guess what…. its Monday! Here on good girl issues, I’m here to help you take control of your week. By making a few minutes to mediate, you can not only change the atmosphere, but you can change your outlook on the entire week!  In Psalms 46:10 God instructs us to be still and Know God, which means that when we choose to sit in the presence of God, with an open areas and a closed mouth, then we can attain real peace and understanding. while it is appropriate to have question and conversation with God, I challenge you to be still today. Allow God to impart His peace into your week. Selah

Did you know that you can control how your day is going? I know what you are thinking…life is unpredictable and everything in it is as well. Can I offer another thought?  Even though you cannot control what happens in your day, you can control your emotion through it. When you have a problem if you ask God to show you just one positive aspect of it all… I guarantee He will!

EXAMPLE: You may have been late to work, but had you been on time you would have been apart of a deadly accident.

Today choose to see the great in your day! Selah

Are you ready to receive in 2018?

To be a person who receives you must learn how to be a person who gives. If you do research on the most successful people on this planet, they gave their time and complete energy to what they wanted to accomplish. In the Bible, we are taught that what we sew we reap in excess.

This year don’t be afraid of giving your all! If you’re going to have a stronger relationship with God spend more time with God without fear of what’s going on around you. If you’re going to start a business, put your very best foot forward and know that if God put the desire inside of you… then he made you CAPABLE and you will succeed. Be a giver this year and watch God transform every area of your life. Selah

Had a bad day

Today was rough, this season has been difficult, and this year is coming to a close. But… You have made it. In our walk with God we are not promised a stress free life, instead we are given a gift of peace, long suffering , love, self control, and much more. What does that have to do with the struggles in life? Well, the gifts are our line of defense against the struggles that want to bring us down. God doesn’t abandon us during rough times, instead He offers the ability to overcome and even flurish. Pinpoint what gift you need in this time of pain from Galatians 5:22 , pray and ask God to show you your life vest.
